In Thailand, the natural herb is called "Samunprai", and the herb wrapped in cloth is called "Placop". There are various ways to say it, but the treatment method using herbs has a reputation as a popular menu at luxury spa resorts, and is also used as an option for traditional Thai massage. Muscle tension can be released in two ways: massage or heat. In acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, the heat effect is applied to the acupuncture point, and the same soft effect can be expected in the herbal ball massage. In addition, in the herb ball massage, the natural ingredients bring moisture to the skin in addition to the thermal effect, and the shape of the herb ball can be used to apply direct pressure to the muscles at the same time, so it is more effective. I can operate.

Herb ball massage is a massage treatment in which several types of medicinal herbs wrapped in cloth are heated in a steamer and pressed against the client's body. At the same time as the heat effect quickly loosens muscle stiffness, the herbal extract penetrates through the skin and makes the skin smooth and smooth.

As a treatment procedure, first, wrap a blend of several types of Thai herbs in a cloth and put it in a steamer. When it warms up, apply pressure while pressing it against the whole body. Not only does the herbal extract permeate the skin and regenerate smooth skin, but the heat effect that reaches the muscles relieves muscle tension and promotes blood circulation. Depending on how you use it, it can be used in an infinite number of ways, such as by sandwiching it between the joints when stretching to increase pressure, or by pressing it against the back when lying down to warm the affected area in advance. This is also an important point that determines the feeling of the treatment where the individuality of the store and therapist is displayed.

To relieve muscle stiffness, there are two methods: compressing the stiffness itself and warming the affected area. It can be said that massage treatment using herb balls is an effective means of performing these two methods at the same time. increase. Furthermore, when the herb ball is steamed and used, the natural extracts seep out from the herbs wrapped in the cloth and permeate the skin to regenerate the smoothness of the skin. If you are aiming for a warming effect, you can use it over your clothes, but if you are also aiming for an approach to the skin, it is of course more effective to apply it over bare skin. When applying the treatment over clothes, please be aware that if a small amount of the extract gets on the cloth, the pigment will be deposited as stains. As much as possible, avoid wearing white clothes and wear dark colored clothes.

The effects of herbal ball massage are amazing. Elimination of muscle pain and stiffness, promotion of blood circulation by massage, medicinal effects of herbs, promotion of blood circulation by thermal effect, anti-aging of skin, adjustment of autonomic nerve balance, relief of symptoms related to menopause and autonomic imbalance, constant rhythm Many effects can be expected, such as a relaxing effect that makes parasympathetic nerves dominant by repeating pressure.

Herb ball massage has been developed as a traditional Thai folk remedy since ancient times, but there is no clear historical evidence regarding its origin or historical background. Generally speaking, knowledge of herbs (medicinal herbs) and massage came from Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, and knowledge of Kampo medicine came from China.

Traditional Thai folk remedies such as herbal balls have been handed down mainly by word of mouth. In other words, the word “oral” means that it has been handed down from master to disciple, from parent to child, not through books, but through actual experience. Therefore, there are some regional differences. The treatment methods and medicinal knowledge that have been handed down for generations have caused slight discrepancies over time depending on the region.

It is believed that many of the uses were as a means of recovering from fatigue after daily work, and as a way for women to recover from childbirth. In addition, in modern society, many people have problems with coldness in the environment with air conditioning equipment, and by alleviating coldness, it has the effect of enhancing immunity and preventing diseases such as cancer. One of the big reasons why herb balls have developed in Thailand is that medicinal herbs are readily available. Zingiberaceae herbs, such as ginger, turmeric, zedoary, nankyo, etc., are suitable for cultivation in Thailand, which has a tropical climate.

As mentioned above, it is known as one of the traditional remedies in Thailand, but even in Thailand, massaging shops do not handle it very much, and it seems that it is often handled only in high-end spas. Furthermore, in Thailand, it is an ultra-luxury style to put raw herbs in a steamer, but it is generally sold wrapped in cloth, and it is common to use this. The one that is wrapped in a cloth and just steamed is called “Purakop Samunplai”.

The herb ball recommended by TTMA is a blend of the following 5 kinds of herb balls, and does not contain leaves, which should be avoided during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In addition, we have devised ways to minimize dirt by removing powdery leaves so that fine leaves do not come out from the cloth when used.
1. Mandarin orange peel (warming effect, blood circulation promotion, relaxation effect)
2, turmeric (choleretic effect, skin gloss, antibacterial effect)
3. Kaffir lime leaf (promotes blood circulation, relieves anxiety stress, alleviates insomnia, relaxes)
4, Lemongrass (blood circulation promotion, cold prevention, muscle pain relief, bactericidal action, relaxing effect)
5, tamarind leaves (carminative, internal gas discharge, stuffy nose)
